Seasonal Use of the Area:
Page -2-
OTHER
Mountain bluebird
black-billed Magpie
Violet-green Swallow
The affected area lies in an area that sees heavy use as mule deer
winter range. No other big game is known to inhabit affected or
surrounding land areas on a seasonal basis. Mammals commonly found
on affected land tlrrouyhout the year include tJutall's cottontail,
porcupines, coyotes and foxes.
C. Threatened or Endangered Species:
There are no known threatened or endangered species inhabiting af-
fected land in Coaldale. A family of golden eagles is known to
winter in the country a few miles east of the affected land, and is
occasionally seen hunting in the neiyhboring areas. Mining does
not seem to have appreciable affect on the populations of rabbit,
gophers, ground rodents, etc.
D. Altliougli temporary loss of some graze and browse is evident from
the mining operation, not enough area is disturbed to significantly
affect wildlife habitat. On the contrary, mule deer and fox are
commonly viewed by the workmen thro.u9hout the year, especially in
the winter months. Noise and human activity do not seem to signi-
ficantly affect the wildlife population in the surroundiny area,
and eventually, though concerted efforts in the reclamation program-
rniny, the affected land should promote even larger wildlife popula-
tions than before mining activities.
WATER RESOURCES WITHIN AFFECTED AREA:
Due to lack of surface water on the affected land or in close proximity
to affected land, low water table, and high permeability of the soils
and mine spoils, mining will have no measurable effect on the water re-
sources of surrounding area.

• i
~..
