• TECHNICAL REVISION N0. 14
5. Addendum 9-6-5 indicates 60" of topsoil is available for salvaging
from soil type 66E. However, Table 9-7-1 specifies only 4.0' of
soil will be salvaged. Taking into consideration anticipated soil
losses in conjunction with the restrictions in salvaging soil type
236, the Division believes the salvage depth of soil type 66E
should be increased to at least 4.5'. Please modify attachment 9-7
accordingly.
Response:
Based upon the information presented in Attachments 9-6 and 9-7, Peabody
believes the salvage depth of soil type 66E is appropriately listed as
4.0' within Table 9-7-1. The 66E map unit consists of 75 percent
Skylick with 10 percent Wineveda, lU percent Routt, and 5 percent Coutis
inclusions (Addendum 9-6-1). The mean topsoil salvage depth for the 66E
map unit can be calculated as follows:
Soil Type Component Proportion Soil Salvage Depth (feet)
Skylick 0.75 x 4.75
Wineveda + 0.10 x 2.25
Routt + 0.10 x 1.75
Coutis + 0.05 x 3.75
• (entire 66E map unit) = 4.15'
The salvage depths utilized for each component of the 66E map unit were
adjusted by 0.25 feet to compensate for brush removal activities. Also,
the mean salvage depth listed in Table 9-6-1 is 4.0 feet rather than
4.15 feet because all values were rounded to the nearest one-half foot.
Tab 10-Vegetation
1. The new Introduction for this tab specifies that the baseline
vegetation report prepared by ESCO Associates Inc., is intended to
replace the existing Addendum 10-1. This report references on page
2 under Section 2.2 that sampling of the Meadow type was difficult
because of disturbance by heavy equipment constructing
sediment Pond 008." To avoid confusion in the future over baseline
vegetation analysis of the Pond 008 area, existing Addendum 10-1
consisting of two pages should be retained and not be superseded by
this report. This new baseline survey by ESCO Associates Inc.,
would then become new Addendum 10-2.
Response:
The original Addendum 10-1 covering the Pond 008 baseline vegetation
analysis has been placed back in Tab 10. The vegetation baseline report
• prepared by ESCO Associates Inc., and which was included in Technical
Revision No. 14 as Addendum 10-1, has been changed to Addendum 10-2.
