6. Explain the design of the mining phases and blocks in terms of size and mine
progression. Do the size of the blocks relate to annual production? Give rationale for
mining eastern portion first, then western side in final phases.
7. The mine plan narrative should state that the visual and safety buffer zones define the
limit of mining.
8. The reclamation tables show direct topsoil replacement into the previous mined-out
block in order to accomplish ongoing reclamation. Explain how overburden will be
handled as part of the procedure. Will topsoil be snipped and temporarily stockpiled in
order to strip overburden for direct placement into mined-out area, then pick up the
topaoil again for spreading over the rewntoured overburden?
9. Address fencing of the site, security gate, and safety mitigation as related to recreation
users and gun range activities.
] 0. Submit a smaller scale map (such as 1" = 200') that shows the mine plan layout,
topogaphy, gun range site, haul road route, scales, security gate, etc.
11. Dust control is briefly mentioned for haul mad and topsoil berms, but needs
expanded to describe dust control measuresused during stripping, mining, crushing,
stockpiling, loading and haulage.
12. What is the capacity of haulage tracks?
Please submit your response to the above items by January 20, 2006. The information is
needed in order to complete the environmental assessment (EA) on.the project. If you
have any questions or would like to discuss these items further, pease contact Bruce
Fowler at 244-3036.
Sincerely, A
~I~J
~2'Catherine Robertson
' Field Manager
Cc: Jim Komatinsky, Mesa County Planning
Russ Means, DMG
Bob Engelke
Walt Eldridge
