-z-
EXHIBIT D
1. Is the existing access road to be part of the permit area? It should
be if it is to be improved as a part of the mining operation.
2. Our staff recommends planting the topsoil berm-stockpile with 3 lbs.
8LS/acre Western Wheatgrasa (drilled rate) and keeping the eideslopea
of this stockpile at 2:1 or less,
3. What equipment is to be used in the mining operation?
4. Sdill methods such as benching be used in the operation (mine depths
of up to 50' are to be mined)?
5. If possible (perhaps by doing some further gravel excavation), slopes
of the pit should be 3:1 instead of 2:1 to facilitate revegetation
establishment.
6. Are there plane to extend the excavation beyond the 7.6 acres presently
planned? If the excavation is extended after 5 years, a technical
revision or amendment to the permit will be necessary.
EXHIBI'L E
1, Are tl:e hems to be a permant reclamation feature? It would seem
that, if they are, there will not be enough topsoil for revegetation
efforts over the entire 105 acres.
2. Slopes of 2: 1, though permissable, are often very difficult to revege-
tate (i:olding topsoil is difficult, for example). Our staff recommends
that final elopes, especially in the pit „ be no more than 3: 1. If
2:1 slopes are to be left, some special methods (e. g., netting) should
be used to ensure successful elope reclamation.
3. W::are is the raaintena::cc anc storaGe area mentioned i:: paragraph 1 of
this exhibit?
4. Although the SCS says the 4-6" of topsoil should be sufficient, if
(for example) E-9" of topsoil is available for reclamation, it should
be used.
5. Birdafoot trefoil, a legume, should be added to tt.a reclamation seed
mix at a drllled rate of 0. 1b. PlSjacr=.
6. Which forbs and shrubs from the SCS mix are to be used in final recla-
mation? (A few should be considered,)
7. Mulchin3 should Se at a miai:ouci rate of 3^0~~ i hs;"scr;:.
31 Any area used for topsoil min'_::o must also be reclaimed.
EXHIBIT F
1, Final contours for reclaimed areas should be indicated on this map
(e. g., the pit, topsoil mining area, etc.).
2. Any berme to be left in final reclamation (there should be ,juatifica-
tioc. biv::a for i~a•oing such berme) should be shown on this map.
3. Airy r;:c:aiuiug :+ata_ i:apoundments should be shown on this map. In
this regard, is the pond shown in map C to remain after mining?
4. Aay cl~angee in reclamation, due to mining of further gravel at a later
time, will have to be shown on a new map (included in a technical
r~visioa or amendment).
EXHIBIT G
1, Is the water to be purchased for this operation now designated as
industrial use water? If it is not, a change in use for thin water
must be secured,
2. Have all permits and water rights been secured for the well to be
constructed at the northeast corner of the site? This well site
should be shown in exhibits C and/or F.
