OTHER CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Other construction activities planned for the project azea in 2007 may include
obliteration of user developed ATV trails. MCC will reclaim these trails as a part of the
Sylvester Gulch Road construction.
There are three 14-inch pilot holes planned for the Deer Creek Shafts. The
purpose of these holes is to further define the strata in the azea of the proposed shafts and
to provide a hole that can be re-used as a pilot hole for the raisebore equipment when it is
mobilized for the shafts. These would be drilled with the LM-140 drill beginning the 15`
of May, 2007 until all three are complete. The holes once drilled would be evaluated and
then plugged with a combination of bentonite grout and sand, to be later re-opened by the
raise bore machine when the shafts are constructed.
DRILLING SCHEDULE
MCC will proceed with road construction and drilling activities upon approval of
this AOP and in accordance with the Conditions of Approval as referenced in the Forest
Service Decision Notice dated May 31, 2002, titled Coal Methane Drainage Project
Panels 16-2A Mountain Coal Coanpany IJ'est Elk Miaae.
Completion and approval of the Amiual Bird Survey is anticipated by June 9,
2007. No new disturbance will occur until after that date. The schedule of drilling is
presented based on plans to continue with MDW drilling on the West Flatiron after the
pilot holes at the Deer Creek Shafts are completed. The first three MDW drill holes to be
completed on the West Flatiron would be completed on an existing drill pad, beginning
approximately May 29, 2007. Drilling is presumed to require 8 days per hole including
mobilization from site to site, setup, drilling, and rig down. Note: The schedule below
is based on using one drilling rig. This schedule is subject to rig availability and/or
MCC operating constraints.
2007 MDW DRILL SCHEDULE
LM 140
Drill Hole Location Duration Start Finish Comment
DC-1 USFS-Minnesota Res. 10 5/1/2007 5/10/2007 Includes 2 da.
