Mr. Gilbert F. Rindahl - 2 - June 17, 1985
Exhibit C - Pre-mining Plan Map
1. Several structures are within 200 feet of proposed mining operations.
Please provide documentation that the respective owners do not appose the
mining activities proposed to occur within 200 feet of the following
structures:
a. Gas well
b. Gas lines
c. Telephone line
d. Ditch
e. County road
Be sure to show that the owners of the telephone line and gas lines are aware
that mine-related excavation and earth moving will occur directly above and
below said structures.
2. Please verify that the minimum 100'
setback from St. Vrain Creek will remain completely undisturbed.
3. It is the Division's understanding that the minimum 50' setback from pit
areas to the permit boundary is measured from the top of 3H: 1V pit slopes.
4. Please describe the wet areas designated to the south of St. Vrain Creek.
Are these slough areas, partially flowing channels, or marsh?
5. Please amend this map to show the total permit area. (Current permit
boundary and proposed amendment boundary. )
Exhibit C - Mining Plan Map
1 . There will be an excess of topsoil removed during mining operations. The
staff will be recommending that enough topsoil be retained to allow 12 inch
replacement rather than 8-10 inches.
2. It seems that topsoil would not be economically stored at the northwest
location during the mining of Phases III, IV and V. Please comment as to
whether additional storage sites will be utilized.
3. The application (page D-1) states that the northwest topsoil area will
exchange acreage with the potential plant site (SE). This would seem to imply
that the topsoil storage area will be cleared and reclaimed prior to plant
site development. If this is the case, there would be no remaining topsoil
storage area for additional mining. Please clarify.
4. Please describe the drainage system for dewatering. It seems that the
north (Phase I) pump will actually drain upslope. Are there trenches planned
which do not show on the maps. Please also specify the direction/route for
dewatering drainage at the south area.
