OF COZO 999
0 DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
* * David H.Getchee,Executive Director
. ,876 . MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C.SHELTON, Director
Richard D.Lamm
Governor -
June 17, 1985
Mr. Gilbert F. Rindahl
Rindahl and Associates, Inc.
2305 South Syracuse Way
Suite 217
Denver, Colorado 80231
Re: Adequacy Review - Varra Company, Inc. - Amendment - File No. M-74-52
Dear Mr. Rindahl :
We have reviewed the above-referenced amendment application. The following
text will outline our remaining questions and concerns. Please address each
of these issues in detail at least 7 working days prior to the July 24-25,
1985 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
The operator should assess the accuracy ansd status of all maps and exhibits
included within the original permit document. The permit is quite old and
this is an excellent opportunity to revise outdated maps and plans. Such
action will provide a complete permit and will avoid any potential problems
following future inspections. The operator is encouraged to revise the
amendment application so that all portions of the permit (old and proposed)
are combined and accurately reflected in a single version of each map and
exhibit.
Application Form
1 . The application form indicates an agricultural final land use. It is
possible that some livestock watering may occur, however, the predominant land
use will be wildlife habitat. In fact, nicely reclaimed gravel pits not only
provide, but enhance available habitat. Please indicate whether some
agricultural use is planned other than stock watering. Regardless, lakes of
the size proposed will become wildlife habitat, (as stated on page E-1 ) and
should be reclaimed accordingly.
2. Please submit an amended application form which provides previously
approved and total amended acreage.
Exhibit B - Index Map
1. Please amend this map to clearly show the existing permit boundary
relative to the amendment permit area.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
