Page 2
•
roosting along the IJhite River, approximately 8 miles distant to the mine
site. To the best of his knowledge, there are no known or recorded ob-
servations of these birds using the mine site vicinity for nesting or roost-
ing, Further, it is Hr. Getman's professional opinion that the mine site
represents poor habitat for such use by bald eagles.
Northern Loal, through contract with Bio-Resources, has indicated that as
a part of, and concurrent with environmental studies currently planned, they
will monitor the mine site vicinity for any eagle activities.
In view of the above, and in conjunction with the habitat observations at
the mine site, it is unlikely that the proposed activities will have
significant impact to eagles or their habitats.
Barring any additional information, observations or planned study results
of eagle activities in this area, I do not believe that further consulta-
tion is necessary in this regard.
. It is our understanding that Bio-Resources, Inc., will be conducting other
environmental studies in connection with the aforementioned leases. The
scope of these studies was subject for discussion on the April 6 meeting.
• As these studies were described by meeting attendees, we feel confident
that sufficient baseline information will be available to rcake a sound
environmental analysis upon conclusion. These studies are expected to
be initiated in the immediate future.
If additional information is desirable, please do not hesitate to call.
Tfiank you for the opportunity to be of assistance. .
_/ ~~~ i
L.
