4 - 46 <br />The unit is mainly used for rangeland. It is also used for wildlife habitat. The present plant <br />community is mainly juniper, big sage, and summer•cypress; grasses include cheat grass, <br />western wheat grass, and Salina wild rye. <br />The potential productivity is 1,500/900/800 pounds of air-dry vegetation in <br />favorable/normal/and unfavorable years, respectively. <br />This map unit is in capability unit IVe dryland on 8 to 15 percent slopes and Vle dryland on <br />15 to 35 percent slopes, rolling loam range site." <br />MAP UNIT: RIAB • RIVRA GRAVELLY SANDY LOAM VARIANT, 0 TO 8 PERCENT SLOPES <br />This map is on nearly level to gently sloping low terraces and flood plains. The slope is 0 to <br />8 percent. The native vegetation is mainly a greasewood • shrubland community <br />Included in this map unit is about 5 percent Nihill below sandstone outcrop. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Rivra variant is a pale brown or light brownish gray gravelly <br />sandy loam about 8 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is light <br />. brownish gray to pale brown, stratified very gravelly loamy sands and loamy coarse sands. <br />Permeability of the Rivra variant is very rapid. Available water capacity is moderate. <br />Effective rooting depth is 40 to 60 inches. Runoff is slow, and the erosion hazard for water is <br />medium. Wind erosion hazard is moderate to moderately high. <br />The unit is mainly used for rangeland and wildlife habitat. ft is also used for pasture. <br />The present plant community is mainly greasewood, four-wing salt bush, western wheat <br />grass, and cheat grass. <br />The potential productivity is 900 to 500 pounds of air•dry vegetation in favorable and <br />unfavorable years, respectively. <br />This map unit is in capability unit Vlw dryland, foothills Swale range sites <br />MAP UNIT: RO -ROCK OUTCROP, VARIABLE SLOPES <br />This map unit is on strongly sloping to extremely steep mountain slopes, uplands and sides <br />lopes of mountains.
