Permeability of the Glendive soil is moderate <br />to moderately rapid. Available water capacity is moderate to high. Effective rooting depth is 60 <br />inches or more. Runoff is slow and the erosion hazard for water is moderate. Wind erosion <br />hazard is slight to moderate. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Havre soil is a light brownish gray or light gray loam about <br />6 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is anon-saline to saline, brown, <br />grayish brown, or light gray stratified loam, silty clay loam, or sandy loam. <br />Permeability of the Havre soil is moderate. Available water capacity is moderate to <br />moderately high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches. Runoff is slow, and the erosion hazard <br />for water is moderate. Wind erosion hazard is slight. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Fruita soil is a brown loam about 5 inches thick. The <br />subsoil is a brown clay loam or sandy clay loam about 10 to 15 inches thick. The substratum is <br />a pinkish-gray loam and clay loam extending to a depth of 60 inches or more. Runoff is <br />moderate and the erosion hazard for water is slight. Wind erosion hazard is moderately severe. <br />• The unit is mainly used for rangeland and wildlife habitat. h is also used for pasture. The <br />present plant community is mainly cheat grass, western wheat grass, big sage, and <br />greasewood. <br />Glendive soil is in capability unit l l le dryland, Ile irrigated, foothills Swale range site.2 <br />Havre soil is in capability unit l l lc dryland, l lc irrigated, on 0 to 2 percent slopes and l l le <br />dryland and l le irrigated on slopes greater than 2 percent, foothills Swale range site 2. Fruita <br />soil is in capability unit Vle dryland, loamy salt desert range site. <br />MAP UNIT: HAAB • HAVRE LOAM, SALINE PHASE, 0 TO 8 PERCENT SLOPES <br />This map unit is on nearly level to gently sloping valley bottoms and flood plains. The slope <br />is 0 to 8 percent. The native vegetation is mainly a greasewood•shrubland community. <br />Included in this map unit is about 10 percent Uffens silt loam, and about 10 percent <br />Glendive loam.
