4 - 43 <br />MAP UNIT: GDAB - GLENDIVE SANDY LOAM, 0 TO 8 PERCENT SLOPES <br />• This map unit is on nearly level to moderately sloping flood plains and valley bottoms. The <br />slope is 0 to 8 percent. The native vegetation is mainly agreasewood-shrubland community. <br />Included in the map unit is about 10 percent Havre loam, and 5 percent Fruita fine sandy loam. <br />These soils occur randomly within the map unit. Included areas make up about 15 percent of <br />the total acreage. The Fruita soil is a member of the fine-loamy, mixed, mesic family of the <br />Typic Haplargids. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Glendive soil is a pale brown, platy loam or sandy loam <br />about 5 inches thick. The subsoil is a pale brown to light yellowish brown fine sandy loam about <br />10 to 15 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is pale brown, thinly <br />stratified silt loam, fine sandy loam and very fine sands. <br />Permeability of the Glendive soil is moderate or moderately rapid. Available water capacity <br />is moderate to high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow and the <br />erosion hazard is slight to moderate. <br />The unit is mainly used for rangeland and wildlife habitat. It is also used for pasture. <br />• The present plant community is mainly greasewood, summer -cypress, cheat grass, and <br />western wheat grass. <br />The potential productivity is 1,800 and 900 pounds of air dry vegetation in favorable and <br /> <br />unfavorable years, respectively. This map unit is in capability unit l l le dryland, l le irrigated, <br />foothills swale range sites. <br />MAP UNIT: GD - HA - GLENDIVE-HAVRE COMPLEX, 0 TO 8 PERCENT SLOPES <br />This map unit is on nearly level to moderately sloping flood plains, valley bottoms, and <br />terraces. The slope is 0 to 8 percent. The native vegetation is mainly greasewood•shrubland <br />community. This unit is 60 percent Glendive loam, 30 percent Havre loam, and about 10 <br />percent Fruits fine sandy loam occurring randomly on the landscape. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Glendive soils a pale brown, platy loam about 5 inches <br />thick. The subsoil is a pale brown to light yellowish brown fine sandy loam about 5 inches thick. <br />The subsoil is a pale brown to light yellowish brown fine sandy loam about 10 to 15 inches thick. <br />1 Range site established for Moffat county. <br />Nlo Volume 1 <br />4.29.96 <br />
