w^lls on the western part of the property, west of River3ale
Road will not be affected by the lowered water levels
created by the new lakes. The maximum spread of drawdown
resulting from the prtsence of the lake will be approximately
2,200 feet. These wells are located approximately 2,000 feet
from the lake. In addition, seepage from the bottom of
the Brantner and Lower l" ^ar Creek ditches will ensure that
the lateral expansion of drawdowns will not extend beyond
the ditches. The South Platte Ri~•~r, south and east of the
property, forms a hydrologic boundary a 3 will restrict
the drawdowns from the lakes to the mining property. .he
domestic, stock and irrigation wells south and east of
the river will got experience any lowering of water levels
due to the crea~ion of the lakes.
Water Quality
There is no impact from water quality, therefore, no
mitigation is required.
Drainage
The existing levees along the south boundary of the site
an3 along the west banx o~ the So~`_h Platte River will be
maintained at their present 1 :els. To change them either
higher or lower would change the flood plain and flood flow 7
characteristics which may increase the uamage p '
for other 4.eas. The lake banks should be kept 00 to 300 ~ D-a o ~f
feet from the levees. This will help keep any erosio
extending off the site and help maintain the existing flood
flow patterns.
Lake banks, especially the southern 1~nks shouicl be kept
as flat as possible and planted with suitable vegetation
to help control erosion during floods. Peninsulas extending
into the south lake should be constructed at a maxLnum
height of three feet above the final lake level.
Tree planting should be in a manner ~~ allow easy
passage of flood flows. North-South .._lignments along the
east and west shores would be ideal. No new structures for
permanent occupation will be allowed. Other structures and
stockpiles of materials will be alliyndd with-their longitudinal
axes in the direction of flow.
-IS-
