NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXPLORE PACE 10
INVOLVING 12EhIOVAL OF 250 TONS OR LESS OF COAL
STOVE CANYON COAL EXPLORATION PLAN AREA
• days of drilling and 4 days off. Also assuming aseven-day work-week, drilling and
logging would be completed by approximately October 31, 2005.
Reclamation of roads and drill sites is expected to require no more than 10 days to
complete and to the extent possible will be contemporaneous with drilling. Hole sealing
will be contemporaneous with reclamation at the latest and is estimated to average
about one day per hole.
The program is expected to be complete by approximately October 31, 2005.
§2.02.2(2)(e): Right to enter surface lands not owned by the applicant.
Federal Coal Leases C-0125515 and C-0125516 provide CAM right to enter the lands
subject to the XPA.
§2.02.2(2)(f): Practices to be followed to protect the environment from
adverse impacts as a result of the exploration activities.
All exploration activities will be conducted in accordance with applicable regulations of
the Bureau of Land Management and applicable rules and performance standards of the
• Division of Minerals & Geology.
Prior to construction of new drill pads and roadways, topsoil consisting of the top 12
inches of soil or the entire soil horizon to bedrock, whichever is less, will be removed and
stored in convenient locations for retrieval and redistribution during reclamation, in
accordance with applicable portions of §4.06, including §4.06.2(2)(a)(1). If it appears
that topsoil so removed and stored will not be used for reclamation during the fall, it will
be seeded with afast-growing annual such as rye grass to minimize erosion during
spring snowmelt.
Existing roads will be graded (if necessary) and new roads and drill pads will be
constructed in such a manner as to minimize grades, cuts and fills, overland flow
erosion, and effects on existing drainages. CAM does not anticipate diversion of any
existing drainage as part of this program. Overland (sheet) flow between drainages may
be diverted along roadways to the closest down-grade drainage if necessary. New
roads will be considered light use roads and will be constructed, maintained, and
reclaimed in accordance with §4.03.3.
CAM does not anticipate the excavation of sediment ponds, the installation of culverts,
or the construction of drainage ditches or other sediment control structures, other than
as required to control drainage on and minimize erosion from the new light-use roads to
be constructed as part of the proposed exploration program.
