reclaimed areas. A combination of methods and practices will be employed by GCC
to control the introduction of weed species and their regeneration within the project
area.
GCC will control introduction of weeds into disturbed and reclaimed areas by the
following methods:
1) A periodic weed inventory will be conducted for the project area.
Prior to disturbance construction sites will be inventoried again for weed
infestations. All weed infestations identified through these surveys will be
recorded and mapped;
2) Noxious and pest weed infestations will be controlled within and
immediately adjacent to the construction areas prior to disturbance by
acceptable mechanical or chemical methods. These methods are further
discussed in Section 1.3;
3) A thorough cleaning of equipment will be conducted before entering
the project area to prevent the introduction of seed and plant propagules
from other construction sites both on and off-site. Once a thoroughfare has
been cleared, no further cleaning will be necessary for equipment entering
and leaving the construction area;
4) Seed mixtures used for reclamation or temporary site stabilization will
be free of noxious weeds. Seed tags will be kept on file and available for
inspection by regulatory personnel; and
5) Native hay and/or straw used for mulch or other purposes will be
certified weed free. Certification tags will be kept on file and available for
inspection by regulatory personnel.
GCC Red Rocks Mine 4 03/03/03
