comply with the State of Colorado's Noxious Weed Act. Pueblo County may
require a landowner or lessor of state and federal lands to file and comply with an
acceptable Weed Control Plan.
The Red Rock Mine project area will have ongoing disturbance and reclamation
activities associated with an active limestone surface mine. In addition to the active
mine, the project area will also consist of support facilities including a portland
cement mill, conveyors, roads, rail lines and storage areas. Weed management
activities will be conducted on lands located within the project area under direct
GCC control.
GCC will comply with the weed control regulations, guidelines and permit
stipulations from the DMG, Pueblo County and the State Land Board through
implementation of the Plan. Periodic reviews and updates to the Plan will be
completed as necessary to keep it current with noxious and pest weed control issues.
1.0 Weed Management and Control
The Plan contains important elements of Integrated Pest Management ("IPM") as
discussed in Section 1.3. The Plan will be implemented for the control of noxious
and pest weed species on undisturbed, disturbed and reclaimed lands within the
Red Rock Mine project area. Appropriate management control and eradication
programs will be implemented whenever noxious or pest weed species are observed
growing within the project area. The goals of weed management are to:
1) Identify and control noxious and problem weeds within and
immediately adjacent to the areas to be disturbed prior to disturbance.
Conduct pre-treatment and post-treatment monitoring, and continue or
modify treatment measures as is necessary;
GCC Red Rocks Mine 2 03/03/03
