(• the AVF areas and because the AVF areas are located outside the <br />area of influence of mining-related surface subsidence effects, <br />the AVF areas are not discussed in any further detail. <br />2.2.7 Surface Water Resources <br />Developed surface water resources within or adjacent to the <br />proposed permit area include the Vulcan Ditch, Porter Reservoir, <br />the Sykes and Alford Ditch and three identified surface seeps <br />(Map A). Because mining is not planned in the surface water <br />resource areas and because the surface water resource areas are <br />located outside the area of influence of mining-related surface <br />subsidence effects, the surface water resources are not discussed <br />in any further detail. <br />2.2.8 Subsurface Water Resources <br />There are no developed subsurface water resources in the <br />• proposed mining area. Subsurface water resources within and <br />adjacent to the proposed permit area have been described in detail <br />in Section 3.3.4 of the permit application. Four bedrock zones <br />which are either water-bearing or potentially water-bearing have <br />been identified. These units are the Rollins sandstone, the <br />wheeler coal seam and the Upper and Middle sandstones. only the <br />Upper and Middle sandstones lie above the proposed mining horizon. <br /> <br />page 11 <br />
