~•
SECTION 3.0 - DESCRIPTION OF WORST POSSIBLE CONSEQOENCES OF
SOBSIDENCE ON STROCTORES AND RENEWABLE RESOURCE LANDS
This section briefly discusses land use in the proposed
mining area, describes predicted subsidence phenomena and presents
a description of the worst possible consequences of subsidence.
The subsidence calculations presented in this permit application
represent an engineering analysis based on the specific mining,
geologic, hydrologic and surface environments in the proposed
mining area at the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine site.
3.1 LAND USE
• This section presents a brief description of the pre- and
post-mining land uses of the permit and adjacent area.
3.1.1 Structures
There are no buildings located within or immediately adjacent
to the proposed 5-year mining area. It is not anticipated that
the planned full-extraction mining and resulting subsidence will
have any impact on the existing or the planned structures in the
proposed permit area.
3.1.2 Resource Lands
There are presently no significant land uses within and
adjacent to the proposed 5-year mining area. There are no
developed surface or subsurface water resources within or adjacent
. to the proposed 5-year mining area. The majority of the permit
and adjacent area is undeveloped land that is not of any practical
value. Current land use in the proposed permit area consists
primarily of rangeland, cropland and wildlife habitat. An
page 12
