• factors and limitations on the availability of sigrvficant quantities of water effectively
prelude any potential for more intensive agricultural utilization.
There is some potential for changes in land use for the Southfield loadout azea. This
azea is presently zoned for agricultural use and similaz limitations of climate and water
availability azea applicable. The loadout azea is adjacent to the City of Florence and
there is some potential for commeraal or light industrial activity in this azea.
The impacts of mining and related activity on the ability of effected lands within the
mine and loadout azeas to support and sustain the proposed postmining land uses will
be minimal given mitigation measures and reclamation plans as discussed in Sections
2.05.4 through 2.05.6. In addition as described in Sections 2.04.6, 2.04.9, 2.05.4, 4.05.8
and 4.14.3 none of the surfiaal materials which will remain upon completion of
reclamation can be chazactetized as acid- or toxic-fomung and do not demonstrate
physical chemical or textural limitations which would inhibit effective plant
reestablishment and long-term growth. As discussed in Sections 2.05.6 and 4.05.]2,
reclamation activities will restore infiltration of storage any hydrologic transmission
• capabilities of soil and underlying materials to levels compazable or greater than those
of natural undisturbed materials.
Establishment of the design postmining topography will not result in any azeas with
over steepened slopes or other topographic features which would limit access or pose
potential hazazd to humans, livestock or wildlife. Regrading measures will generally
establish relatively gradual slopes which aze designed [o assure long-term stability and
minirr,i>e the potential for slides or erosion.
•
Minor Revision MR-41 2.05.5-3 Revised December 2001
