Van Nostrand:
I am in the process of applying for to the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board for a "Limited Impact Operation (110) Reclamation Permit". I would
appreciate your assistance in developing a plan for reclamation.
The property is a 9 acre tract located in the Southwest Quarter of Section 18,
Township 37 North, Range 10 East, NMPM, Alamosa County, Colorado. I have
enclosed a survey plat of the proposed site and a copy of a portion of the USGS
Alamosa Quadrangle map showing the sites relative position to Alamosa and its
topography. There are no homes within 800 feet of the site, it is located
centrally in the Southwest Quarter of Section 18 (I own the 135 acres
surrounding the site). This property is currently rangeland and it is my
intention to return it to range land status. Depending upon your
recommendations, the excavation depth will be controlled by ground xater
elevation. I would assume that the bottom of the pit after replacement of
topsoil should be 2 to 3 feet above the ground water. It is my estimate that
the depth will be 10 to 12 feet. I will have the site drilled and soil tests
run prior to excavation to determine subsurface soil characteristics and ground
water elevations.
Your assistance in developing a valid reclamation plan that will mitigate any
negative impact this operation will have would be appreciated.
Sinc~e+r-ely~
Darnel M.
