Population Densities <br />' The proposed action i5 a continuation of an on-going opnration and involves no <br />new Occidental or contractor personnel so lung ns Loy-~n Wash serves as a facility <br />fur deveiopiny and drmonsh'atinq oil shale technology. Accordingly, there will <br />be no new demands for services or facilities nor Herr impacts on nearby com- <br />munities. <br />' It is envisioned that additional research and development will be continued at <br />Logan 41ash upon completion of o-rork under the pr'escnt contract with the Depart- <br />ment of Cner~gy. If and v:hen the site is ever phased out, it is expected that <br />' the personnel will be shifted to the maximum extent practical to other Occidental <br />projects. If the site is considered for conversion to a commercial operation, <br />an appropriate socio-economic impact analysis wi91 then be performed. <br />' 5. Culture <br />Only incidental new surface construction is corrtengrlated at the Logan Wash site <br />' unless it is converted to conrniercial operations. This construction will have <br />little or no visual impact from the main road. <br />' [iaseline studies indicate that there is no danger to archaeological material or <br />paleontological material of significance by tiie proposed project. <br />6. Wildlife <br />Repeated monitoring at the Logan lJash site has shown that operations to date <br />have had no measurable impact on local wildlife. Wo impact is expected as a <br />' result of the proposed action. <br />7. Fish and Other Aquatic Life <br />' There are no la4:es or perennial streams on the Logan Wash site.
