<br />2.0 COLORADO MINED LAND RECLAMATION <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR MINING ACTIVITIES <br />IN AREAS IDENTIFIED AS ALLUVIAL <br />VALLEY FLOORS <br />• <br />• <br />Paragraph 2.06.8(4) of the regulations of the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining (1981) stipulates <br />that, if the land within the proposed permit area or adjacent <br />area is identified as an alluvial valley floor and the proposed <br />mining activities may affect an AVF or waters that supply the <br />AVF, the coal mining operator should present to the MLRD a <br />detailed baseline data for the determination of: <br />(i) The characteristics of the alluvial valley floor <br />which are necessary to preserve the essential hydrologic <br />functions during and after mining; <br />(ii) The significance of the area to be affected for <br />agricultural activities; <br />(iii) Whether the operation will cause, or presents an <br />unacceptable risk of causing, material damage to the quantity or <br />quality of surface or ground waters that supply the alluvial <br />valley floor; <br />(iv) The effectiveness of proposed reclamation with <br />respect to requirements of the Act and these Rules; <br />3 <br />GEO-HYDRO CONSULTING, INC. <br />
