r
• Resnonse
Updates on all rare and endangered species are included in letters from the
Soils Conservation Service, The Colorado Department of Wildlife and the
U.S. Fish and Gam Service. Copies of these letters have been enclosed
in Appendix 4-7.
usin
2.04.12 This section refers to a lack of prime farmland. A letter from the local
SCS office confirming this will need to be included as an exhibit.
Response
A copy of the negative finding on prime farmland has been enclosed in
Appendix 4-5.
in
2.04.13 A date when the Annual Reclamation Reports will be submitted is
required. Negative reports need to be submitted if no reclamation has
been accomplished.
• Response
The Annual Reclamation Report will be submitted by January 15th of each
year for the preceding year's activities.
scion
2.05.3(2) Page 5-6(6) states the steady state pit will be approximately 1,000,000
cubic yards, but on page 5-16(3) the volume is reportedly 2,000,000 cubic
yards. This needs to be corrected. Page 5-9(5) states the haul road will
remain as permanent access. The letter must state which portions of the
haul road will be retained and give sufficient justification as to why the
haul road (especially the size of the road) will benefit the post mining land
use.
Response
The actual volume of the steady state pit is approximately 1.2 million
cubic yards as revised in the reduced pit size described in the text. The
volume reported on page 5-16 is the available volume of the fill area
which is approximately 2.5 million yards, and is in excess of the volume
to be removed from the pit.
The letter request that the entire haul road to be left for post mining land
• use. The size of the road is necessary for maximum use of the gravel and
land development for the mesa in the future. Oakridge anticipates to
recover several hundred thousand tons of gravel and participate is a
substantial housing development after the coal is removed.
-6-
DEC 2 2 1992
