4. The applicant has committed to monitoring the reclaimed areas
annually to evaluate revegetation success.. information ohtained
from a Division approved monitoring plan should be submitted to
the Division on an annual basis. 4.IS.l(4).
S. The applicant has proposed a rang?land revegetation seed mix which
(based on inadequate baseline information) meets the requirements
for seasonality and introduced species, with the exception of
alfalfa. The Division feels alfalfa will not be succa_ssful in
this area and will deplete soil moisture needed to establish warm
season grasses. Alfalfa should be removed and at least one other
leguminous forb substituted. The Division recommends Utah Sweet-
vich (at 1116PL5/Ac) and/or Cicer Milkvetch•(at 616PLS/Ac).
6. The applicant has not addressed methods of irrigation or pest and
diesease control in the permit revision. If these are to be the
same as with the mine, a statement referencing the appropriate
sections in the mine permit application should be included, if
different, a discussion should be incorporated into this revision
document.2.05.4(2)(e).
7. The applicant has proposed to plant shrubs and trees but, has not
committed to a specific woody plant density standard based on
reference area information or a separate standard per 4.15.8.
Tlie specific success standard should be stated in addition to
methodologies used to evaluate success.4.15.8(7).
8. The applicant has not addressed the specific success criteria for
revegetation success for cover, productivity, and species diversity.
Specific commitments to standards obtained from reference areas
should be incorporated in addition to a description of the meth-
odolgies to be employed in the evaluation of revegetation success
parameters. 4.15.8.
ROADS
Haul roads must be designed and certified by a registered professional
engineer. 4.03.1(d).
2. Ditch designs for the new haul road should be submitted. 4.03.1(4)(e).
