-4-
F,. A calculation of the total volume of water which would
fill the spoil aquifer.
F. A calculation of the length of time required to fill the
spoil aquifer.
The following information is needed to estimate the quantity of pit
inflow into the proposed pit in the Barren Ridge area during mining
and the impacts to water quality during and following mining:
A. Pumping tests of the Stollsteimer Creek alluvium, the coal
seams, and the sandstones of the lower Fruitland Formation
(determination of transmissivity and storativity).
B. Measurements of the cross-sectional area of the proposed pit
which will be below the level of Stollsteimer Creek.
C. Calculation of the volume of the pit below the level of
Stollsteimer Creek.
D. Calculation of projected pit inflows and the impact of mining
on the quantity of surface and ground water.
E. Projection of impacts to the quality of surface and ground
water.
2. Alluvial Valley Floors (2.06.8)
In an approval for a technical revision dated May 7, 2981, the Division
made the finding that the present disturbance on the AVF was not a
significant interruption of the agricultural activities. The current
mining operation has removed 9.7 acres out of 108 acres from production.
This proposed permit revision requires the applicant to take an addi-
tional section of the AVF out of production For a haul road, topsoil
stockpile and expanded coal handling facilities. The applicant plans
to disturb 2.8 additional acres.
The mining of coal in the Barren Ridge area below the level of Stollsteimer
Creek, may present an unacceptable risk of causing material damage to the
quantity and quality of surface and ground waters that supply alluvial
valley floors.
The following information is needed to evaluate the impact of the pro-
posed operation on alluvial valley floors:
A. Map showing all unconsolidated stream la id .deposits down-
stream of the revision area b_v the confluence of Stollsteimer
Creek with the Piedra River.
