logs and electric resistivity logs. Further information on
interpretation is included in Section 4.9.2.
3. As stated in the application, there are no known
aquifers above the coal seams and within the area to be impacted
by underground mining. An aquifer developed in alluvial sedi-
ments of East Salt Creek is topographically well below the
proposed mining. Another potential aquifer is in sandstone
strata over 200 feet below the Cameo Seam and therefore beyond
any possible impact caused by mining activities.
9. Section 4.4.3 was rewritten and Figure 2.3-5 redrafted
to distinguish between the six (6) baseline monitoring wells
and the wells proposed for monitoring during the mining3,activity.
All requested information is now shown on Figure 2.3-5.~~
5. All drill logs have now been included in Appendix G.
Electric resistivity logs have also been added here. The area
covered now goes beyond the mine plan area.
6. It was agreed to drop this yuestion based upon discus-
sions at the review meeting. Figure 9.9-1 does not depict the
potentiometric surface of the Cameo coal seam, but shows approxi-
mate zones of saturated and unsaturated Cameo coal seam.
In lieu of the identification of the potentiometric surface
of the aquifer (210 feet below the Cameo coal seam near McClane

,Canyon),SEI identified the portion of the mine plan area that is
anticipated to be saturated. The mining operation will not
extend into this saturated zone during this permit term as
shown in Figures 2.1-1 and 2.1-2. This is also shown in Figures
2.1-4 and 2.1-5 when related to Figure 4.4-1. Prior to mining
-5-
