This report will cover 1,°80 acres of Federal lands contein.d in the . <br />Federal coal leases C-1362, C-117192 and D-044569, manaoed by the BLM. <br />The unsuitability criteria have been applied to the I;ational Forest lands <br />within these leases by the U.S. Forest Service. One hundred and twenty <br />(120) acres consist of Federal surface and minerals and the remaining <br />acreage consists of federally-owned coal overlain by privately-owned <br />surface. <br />The Federal lands analyzed in this report are described as follows: <br />T. 135., R. 9014., <br />Sec. 9: Lots 1, <br />Sec. 16: All <br />Sec. 17: S;NWe, <br />Sec. 18: SE;NE;, <br />Sec. 19: Lots 6, <br />Sec. 20: Lots 1, <br />Sec. 30: Lots 5, <br />6th P.M. <br />2, 3, South of River in SW;SW', <br />5W: <br />NEeSEa <br />7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 <br />2, 3, 4, 7, 8, NW;NEq, W'-=Wz, NEeNW: <br />6, 9 <br />Gunnison County, Colorado <br />The location of these Federal lands is shown on flap 1. <br />_ UNSUITABILITY ANALYSIS <br />Criterion Number 1: Federal Land Systems <br />Analysis: The areas under study do not contain lands that are in- <br />cluded in, or being recommended for, inclusion in the land systems <br />or categories indicated in the criterion. <br />Criterion Number 2: Rights-of-Way and Easements <br />Analysis: The Master Title Plat (PiTP) far T. 135., R. 90W. shows no <br />Federal rights-of-way. Plats at the Gunnison County Assessor's <br />Office indicate no private rights-of-way. <br />Criterion Number 3: Buffer, Zones Along Rights-of-Way and Adjacent <br />to Coimiunities and Buildings <br />Analysis: There are no public roads, cemetaries, public buildings, <br />schools, churches, communities, institutional buildings, public <br />parks or occupied dwellings on or within the required buffer zones <br />on these private-surface lands. The criterion is not applicable. <br />Criterion Number 4: Wilderness Study Areas <br />Analysis: The BLM administers 120 acres of surface in the lands <br />involved in the lease areas. BLM subsurface ownership is exempt <br />from the wilderness review process. The 120 acres of BLM surface <br />ownership were released from wilderness study consideration by <br />Colorado State Director decision on or before October 15, 1979 <br />(Final Initial Wilderness Inventory). Therefore, this criterion is <br />not applicable. <br />
