Per Rule 2.04.6(3)(a)(iii), please acquire geochemical
information of the roof and floor. Per Table 3.B.2.b. of the
Division's Guidelines for the Collection of Baseline Water
Oualitv and Overburden Geochemistry Data, please obtain composite
samples from the first ten feet of strata overlying the coal seam
and the first five feet underlying the coal seam, and have them
analyzed for the following parameters:
pH
Electrical Conductivity
Total Combustible Solids
Lithologic Classification
Textural Analysis
% Sand
Silt
% Clay
Saturation Percentage
Sodium Adsorption Ratio
Calcium
Magnesium
Nitrate-Nitrite
Sodium
Sulfur
% pyritic sulfur
sulfate sulfur
% organic sulfur
Total Sulfur
Arsenic
Boron
Cadmium
Copper
Iron
Lead
Manganese
Mercury
Molybdenum
Selenium
Zinc
4. To characterize the physical properties of the aquifers at the
site per Rules 2.04.6(3)(a)(iii)(A) and 2.04.7(1)(b), please
perform aquifer pump tests on the Cliffhouse Sandstone, the
Menefee Formation and the Point Lookout Sandstone, to ascertain
the transmissivity, storativity, porosity, and both horizontal
and vertical permeability for each of these strata.
5. Per Rule 2.04.6(3)(a)(iii)(A), please provide lithologic logs for
all drill holes, including the location of subsurface water if
encountered, to supplement existing geological baseline data and
provide a framework for evaluating the geochemical data and water
monitoring data which is collected.
Per Rule 2.04.6 (3)(a)(iii)(A), additionally provide geophysical
logging of each hole for gamma, resistivity and density
measurements.
Per Rule 2.04.7(1)(a), please complete the drill holes to
establish one monitoring well in the Point Lookout Sandstone and
one in the Menefee Formation. We recommend additionally
submitting a set of generic completion diagrams to the Division
in advance of installation, to ensure agreement on the proper
method of establishing a monitoring well in the zone of interest.
