Statement of Chazles Overton public meeting 12 Dec 2006 Northfield Mine Project page 7 Of 10 <br />Page 86 <br />Section 2.04.7 <br />(a) The locations of water supply intakes, ditches, reservoirs, <br />and wells within a one mile minimum radius of the affected <br />area, current users of surface water flowing into,.out of, and within <br />a hydrologic area defined by the Division, and those surface waters <br />which will receive discharges from affected areas in the proposed <br />permit area and adjacent area; <br />(b) Elevations and locations of monitoring stations used to gather <br />data for water quality and quantity. <br />(c) Location and extent of sub$urface water, if encountered, <br />within the proposed permit and adjacent areas, including but <br />not limited to areal and vertical distribution of aquifers, and <br />estimate of seasonal variations of aquifer characteristics on <br />cross sections and contour maps as appropriate. <br />(d) Location of surface water bodies such as streams, lakes, ponds, <br />springs, constructed or natural drains, and irrigation ditches within <br />the proposed permit and. adjacent areas; <br />(e) Location and dimension of existing areas of spoil, waste, and <br />non-coal waste disposal, dams, embankments, other <br />impoundments, and water treatment and air pollution control <br />facilities within the proposed permit. area; <br />(f) Location, and depth, 'rf available, of gas and oil wells within the <br />proposed permit area and water wells in the permit area and <br />adjacent area; and <br />(g) Elevation and location of test borings and core samplings. <br />109(2) (5) Permit applications may comply with the requirements of 2.04.7(4)(c) <br />and 2.04.7(2)(a) 8 (b) regarding the seasonal variability of surface and <br />groundwater quality and quantity without the collection of data coveringl2 <br />consecutive months if accurate statistical procedures, approved by the Division, <br />are used to extrapolate from a data base covering a shorter period of time. <br />{ my insert <br />Page 111 <br />Section 2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations. <br />} <br />(3) Protection of hydrological balance. <br />(a) Each application shall contain a detailed description with appropriate <br />maps, which are prepared to the standards of 2.10, and cross section <br />drawings, of the measures to be taken during and after the proposed <br />surface or underground mining activities, in accordance with Rule 4 <br />to ensure the protection of: <br />(i) The quality of surface and ground water, within both the <br />proposed permit area and adjacent areas, from adverse effects of <br />the proposed surface or underground mining activities; <br />
