Statement of Charles Overton public meeting 12 Dec 2006 Northfield Mine Project page 5 of 10 <br />~ ~o(z)(q (a) The application shall contain a description of the ground water <br />hydrology for the proposed permit and adjacent area, including, at <br />a minimum: <br />(i) The depth below the surface and the horizontal extent of the <br />potentiometric surface of each aquifer above, within and, if <br />potentially impacted, below the lowest coal seam to be mined; <br />(ii) The lithology and thickness of the aquifers; <br />(iii) The seasonal quantity and quality of the water within each <br />aquifer; <br />Page 84 <br />(iv) Ownership, uses and location information for all existing wells, <br />springs and other developed ground water resources; and <br />(v) The quality of the subsurface water. Water quality sampling and <br />laboratory analyses will be conducted in accordance with 2.03.3(4) <br />and shall include: <br />(A) Total dissolved solids or specific conductance corrected <br />to 25E C; <br />(B) PH. <br />(C) Total iron; and <br />(D) Total manganese. <br />(b) The application shall contain additional information which <br />describes the recharge, storage, and discharge characteristics of <br />aquifers and the quality and quantity of ground water for the <br />proposed permit and adjacent areas, according to the parameters <br />and in the detail required by the Division. The application shall also <br />provide well locations and reported yields from all wells within the <br />proposed ,permit and adjacent areas which an: registered with the <br />Office of the State Engineer. <br />(2) Surface Water Information <br />1 to(z)(k) (a) Surtace water information shall be. provided, including the name <br />~ to(z)(q of the watershed which will receive water discharges from the <br />permit area, the location of all surace water bodies such as <br />streams, lakes, ponds and springs, the location of any water <br />discharge into any surface body of water, and descriptions of <br />surface drainage systems sufficient to identify, in detail, the <br />seasonal variations in water quantity and quality within the <br />proposed permit and adjacent areas. The application shall also <br />contain information pertaining to ownership and use of surface <br />water bodies. <br />(b) Surface water information shall include: <br />
