The <br />information provided with the application does not satisfy these <br />requirements. In fact, Page 1 of Section 2.04.7.2 states "the available <br />field data on Engleville Gulch are limited and the quality of the data <br />is unknown". Page 3 of the same section further states that "A gaging <br />station should be established on Engleville Gulch in order to make <br />this determination", referencing flow duratioh information, and that <br />"sufficient information is not available to address seasonal variation <br />in water quality. At least four quarters of water quality data are <br />required in order to perform a seasonal analysis". <br />The baseline information provided with the application does not comply <br />with Rule 2.04.7(2). The stream is a remote intermittent stream; <br />' however, more thorough and accurate flow and quality data can and must <br />be obtained. Without this data, it will not be possible to accurately <br />project anticipated mine impacts. <br />It is recommended that some type of gaging station should be established <br />at both upstream and downstream locations. Details regarding station <br />installation must be provided. <br />The following problems were identified pertaining to the water quality <br />and quantity data provided with the application: <br />a. In some cases the sample date is not provided with the lab report. ,.. <br />Specifically, sample dates are not provided for stations EG and EGW r~~t" <br />(report dated June 3, 1"988), or stations EGW, EGE, EG-KT (report iT~"~L,,~ <br />dated June 8, 1988). It is imperative that both the date that the ~'~(, <br />~;•, •. <br />sample is taken, and the date that the analysis is conducted, are ,- <br />included. This allows a more accurate comparison with future water <br />quality analyses, and it allows us to verify that analyses have <br />been conducted within the proper "holding time" periods. For <br />example, the total suspended solids values for stations EGW and EG <br />are shown to be below detection in the May 31, 1988 report. The ~.;,~`.~ <br />samples were collected April 14, 1988; therefore, the values may •:~;;.`~~-~~. <br />be an indication that the seven day holding period was exceeded. n.""~.p~:1 <br />It is not possible to evaluate the data accuracy without an ~~ ~~ <br />analysis date. `~ <br />b. The reports indicate a well sample/measurement at EGE. This label <br />(EGE) is used elsewhere to designate a surface station. This <br />should be explained. <br />c.
