MR. PETER O'CONNOR
June 10, 1986
Page 7
B. One (1) shaker conveyor connected to a 25 ton hopper and the as-
sociated storage bins for screened fines and nugget size coal.
This shaker conveyor belt is approximately 75 feet long, is built
of plate steel and is approximately 25 feet at its highest point
above ground.
C. One (1) A-frame type storage shed approximately 20 feet by 20 feet.
This structure is used for storing non-volatile, non-explosive
items used in the mining operation, (i.e. roof bolts, washers, drill
bits, etc.). This building is of a temporary design and will be re-
moved during reclamation.
D. One above ground ventilation fan housing approximately 9 feet wide,
6 1/2 feet high and 35 feet long. BLUE FIAME COAL MINE does not plan
any new construction at the mine site. The A-frame storage shed is of
a wood frame construction and the surface mounted ventilation housing
is of concrete block construction. The sedimentation pond, temporary
in its design, will be designed in conformance with the requirements
of 4.05.6.
Be advised that Adequacy Review Letter #1, concern #3, does not per-
tain to BLUE FLAME COAL MINE. The Division i_s correct in assuming
that the gully cannot be located on the Map L-1, and is more repres-
ented of spoil deposition at the NATIONAL KING COAL MINE. BLUE FLAME
COAL MINE will deposit spoiled material produced in nornial mining op-
eartions within the mine and will not be deposited on the surface.
BLUE FLAME COAL MINE identifies that the only soil medium on the site
that would be accessible as a substitute for topsoil will be generated
by the construction of the sedimentation cond. Tlus topsoil will be
stockpiled for future use during the reclamation activities.
Pursuant to Rule 2.05.3(7), Coal Handling Structures, a rotative gen-
erally explaining the location~construction~modification~use,mainten-
ance, coal removal handling, storage, cleaning and transportation areas
and structures in accon3ance with 4.01.1. The only coal handling struc-
ture proposed to be used at the BLUE FLAME COAL MINE site is the shaker
type conveyor and its associated 25 ton hopper and storage bins. The
shaker conveyor support structure is built of mine cart rail steel and
is anchored into the ground with concrete. The floor of the storage bins
is constricted of poured concrete. The upright steel rails are supported
with cross-members of the same type. This cross-meirber steel support
structure supports the shaker conveyor. The shaker conveyor itself is
constructed of plate steel with a thickness ranging from 1/8th to 1/4 of
an inch. The conveyor is mounted on wheels which in turn ride on steel
rail, thus, facilitating the vibrating motion of the shaker conveyor.
Coal is dumped from the chattle car into a Shute at the upper end of the
shaker conveyor and moves down along the conveyor across a screen that
