-3-
•
2.04.5(1) Paragraph 2 additionally states that the recharge of the
(cont.) aquifers occurs from the Animas River which is at an
800 foot difference in elevation. This needs to be
clarified, especially since the permit later indicates
there is no aquifer in the area.
2.04.7 There is a tremendous amount of information in
Appendix 4-2 and 4-3 that should be tabulated and analyzed
as to quantity and quality of the water. A piezometric
map of the area needs to be generated and the location of
each of the wells and drill holes should be indicated as
well. The data from these logs and from the annual
hydrologic reports from 1985 to 1992 should be analyzed,
tabulated, and graphed to show trends in quantity and
quality and explain why there are variances in the data
such as TDS quantities in spring 4.
A new Probable Hydrologic Consequence impact assessment
needs to be accomplished, especially since there is acid
mine drainage from the nearby Peerless Coal Mine.
A new and complete ground water monitoring plan needs to
be included in the permit. Currently only one colluvial
well is being monitored at this time (well 17B). ~
~1`-` -^ Ari 1 7 aA /mnn' YnrcA ccn 2 ' --- -
z
Oakridge wants to prove there is enough water to fill and
maintain a 20 acre feet pond.
