816.171 P.oads: Cla~ III: Location <br />a) P.idges and stable slopes. The location of Class III <br />Roads is determined largely by the immediate need <br />of the mining operation, but as much as possible they <br />are located on ridges and stable slopes. (v3, p. 816- <br />220) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />b) Stream channel location. Class III Roads will not be <br />located in the channel of an intermittent or perennial <br />. stream unless specifically approved by the appropriate <br />regulatory authority. (v3, p. 816-220) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />c) Stream channels, No Class III <br />located in or parallel to any <br />Culverts designed to meet the <br />816.173 are used to cross all <br />220-221) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />Roads are or will <br />drainage channel. <br />requirements of 30 <br />drainages. (v3, pp <br />be <br />CFP. <br />. 316- <br />d) Sedimentation and flooding. Class III P.oads will be <br />constructed according to 30 CFR 816.172 and .816.173 <br />to minimize downstream sedimentation and flooding. <br />(v3, p. 816-221) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />e) Field narking. The location of all Class III Roads <br />anticipated at the date of filing of this application <br />will be clearly marked in the field by flags or stakes. <br />Because of the dynamic nature of the mining operation, <br />the location of Class III Roads may change. In such <br />event, the regulatory authorities will be notified and <br />be given an opportunity for onsite review. (v3, p. 816- <br />221) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />f) Wet, steep or unstable area location. P1o Class IZI <br />Roads will be located in wet, steep, or unstable areas <br />where complete restoration under 30 CFR 816.176 cannot <br />be accomplished. (v3, p, 816-221) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />g) Alignment with subsequent Class I or II roads. If a <br />Class III Road alignment coincides with the proposed <br />alignment of a Class I or II Road, the roadway will be <br />constructed within 6 months to meet the criteria of <br />the proposed road. .Otherwise, the Class III Road will <br />be removed and revegetated. (v3, p. 816-222) <br />The Applicant will comply. <br />
