`\
Memo to Carol Russell
May 18, 1981
Page 3
3. What materials will be used to line the road ditch~to insure that the channel
lining will not be susceptible to scouring. The applicant, must provide the
channel lining information and report the design velocity of the road ditch.
A11 supporting calculations must be submitted.
4. Information on road crown and ditch relief points (including location) must
be provided to indicate flow directions, and to verify that water will not be
discharged into fill material. (9.03.Z(4)(c) and (d)).
5. For all road culverts the applicant must verify that culverts were designed,
constructed, and maintained to sustain the vertical soil pressure, the passive
resistance of the foundation, and the weight of vehicles to be used. This infor-
ms ti on should include the thickness of pipe, size of corrugations, type and size
of pipe, and the amount of fill material to he placed over the culvert (4.03.1(4)(e)
(ii). The minimum amount of fill material allowed is one foot (4.03.1(4)(e)(v)).
6. The applicant should address the need to use trash racks and debris basins
at culverts (9.03.1(4)(e)).
7. The applicant must provide design calculations (incorporating head loss) to
verify that culverts can safely pass a 10-year, 24-hour event without a head
of water at the inlet (unless the embankment is protected from erosion and
fill saturation) (4.03.1(4)(e)).
8. From Map Li~R-6-GTL'1, it appears that road drainage is proposed to be touted
to a 'catchment basin' along the county road. Since the Division must make the
finding that the interests of the public will be protected, we must assess whether
this basin will affect the public road. The following information is therefore
needed:
a. Cross-sections of the county road and basin must be provided.
b. Basin volume estimates must be submitted.
