i
' Memo to Carol Russell
May 18, 1981
Page 2
2. The elevations listed on the Y axis of the road profile do not correspond
to elevations on base maps. The inaccuracy of this profile will make it impossible
to verify compliance with 4.03.1. The; applicant should submit a new, certified
profile at a Iarger scale that uses elevations from surveyors field notes (or
from some other accurate source). The profile should indicate the location of
culverts to verify the amount of fill material to be placed over them. The
profile should also show the original profile to enable the Division to assess
cut slope lengths. To verify grade measurements, the applicant should indicate
lengths and grades (and the points used in the measurement) on this profile.
3. The applicant must certify the road cross-section drawing as required in 2.10.
4. The applicant must show the location and slope of the steepest cutslopes to
be used on the haul road. Cut slopes must be in compliance with 9.03.1(3)(c).
5. The applicant must present evidence to support compliance with 4.03.1(3)(d)
concerning embankments placed on side slopes exceeding 20~, stability safety
factors, and embankment slopes. The applicant states that roads comply with
AASXYO highway recommendations, but does not submit evidence to verify this.
4.03.1(4) - Drainage - Roads
The drainage control system for the haul road has not been adequately addressed
to verify compliance with 4.03.1(4).
1. During refuse pile construction, how will the haul road cross the refuse
pile perimeter ditch? if a culvert is to be used, the applicant must submit the
designs for this culvert.
2. What measures will be used to prevent refuse pile drainage from flowing onto
the road and into the road ditch?
