possibility of impact from the mining operation.
The strike and dip of the seam is described by structural
contours as was found in the original submittal (Figures
2.1-8 and 2.1-9). No strike and dip indicator was added
to these figures as the general strike and dip of the coal
was provided at numerous points in the text and it was left
unclear as to which specific strike and dip should be pointed
out beyond what is commonly interpreted from a structural
contour map.
Road cuts and face-ups are addressed in the narrative and
sloughing will be controlled by commonly accepted, state of
the art construction techniques and erosional controls. This
is addressed in the text.
13a. Cross sectional maps were provided to address the geology of
the area to the extent necessary for regulatory review and to
provide an understanding of the overall mine plan area (Figures
2.5-2 through 2.5-5).
13b. Drill hole locations relevant to this mine plan area are shown
on Figure 2.1-5.
13c. Cores were drilled within the mine plan area.
13d. The requested information is for a surface mining operation, or
in the case of an underground mine, that overburden removed
down to the coal seam to be mined. This is obviously not the
case here and has not been provided to the extent requested.
Tables 2.1-4 and 2.1-5 are analytical results of roof and floor
sampling. This should serve to satisfy analytical requirements
for an underground mining operation.
13e. Requested information is provided in Tables 2.1-4 and 2.1-5.
13f. Analyses of coal was provided in the original submittal.
13g. Drill logs are provided in Appendix G.
13g. (para. 2). The location of spoil and waste material was not
provided as there was no spoil or waste material to locate.
13g. (para. 3). All requested information has been addressed in
the text, specifically Sections 2.5, 2.5.1 through 2.5.3, 4.2
and 4.2.1 through 4.2.7. Related figures substantiate the
information and discussion in the text.
Page 4
13g. (para. 4). Information has been provided on the coal seam to
be mined in Section 2.1.4. No specific information has been
provided on the geology of areas to be affected by surface
operations, as these facilities are not overlying the coal seam
to be mined. The information requested relevant to the surface
facilities can be found in Section 4.4 (soils). Cross sections
have been provided to identify the geology of the area above the
coal seam to be mined.
-3-
