Mr. Larry Damrau
~~
B ~
6~
~ ~o~ a~ .
' 2
~' 4 ~'~
3
-2-

September 23, 1982
If however, CYCC is contemplating a 30-year life of mine which under-
mines Fish Creek for example, a thorough•CHIS must be written consider-
ing future impacts on aZ1 hydrologic resources.
To complete this section CYCC must identify the life of operation
proposed for this permit application.
Rule 2.04.7(1) -Hydrology Description, Ground [dater Information
CYCC has not supplied baseline hydrologic data on the Twenty-mile
Sandstone aquifer. Specifically, no water quality, water level, or
aquifer hydraulics data have been presented. The aquifer overlies
the proposed mine workings. A distance of about 700 feet separates
the mine workings from the aquifer. The applicant states that because
of this distance, no impacts will occur. While this assessment is
certainly probable, the potential for impact still exists and must be
properly documented. The appropriate baseline data will be needed to
complete the statement of Probable Hydrologic Con.s~equences.
2.04.7(2)(a) - Surface Water Information
The application includes no discussion of the occurrence of springs in
or adjacent to the permit area. The location of alI springs should be
~w~ w.s shown, if there are more than the single spring located on Map 9. The
dpne_ p ~,,-~ applicant should provide sufficient data to identify the seasonal
~~~ variations in water quantity and quality of springs within the proposed
permit and adjacent areas. (In anticipation of the adequacy review,
3oq.~ ~ the applicant should identify the occurrence of springs and consider
possible effects of mining.)
9. Rule 2.04.7(2)(b) - Surface Water Information
The application does not contain water quality data for Fish Creek. The
applicant should provide water quality data for Fish Creek sufficient
to identify seasonal variations in TDS, TSS, acidity, pH, total and
dissolved iron, total manganese, and other information required by the
Division. The applicant can use the parameter list used for f'oidel
Creek for other information.
5. Rule 2.04.7(4)(a) - Hydrology Map Requirement
!~, - The applicant has failed to identify the current users of surface water
~( flowing in either the Foidel Creek or Fish Creek watersheds. All
~~ downstream water users on Fish Creek down to its confluence with Trout
~C ~ Creek, and on Foidel Creek down to its confluence with Middle Creek
~q'_'it should be identified. (The applicant should identify point of diversion,
~'o~ area of use, and discuss the nature of the use.)
S~O~
