-4-
SPOIL PILE 1 TO PIT 5

To backfill pit 5, 533,334 yd3 of overburden must be moved from spoil pile 1.
From the center of spoil pile 1 to the center of pit 5 is a haul distance of
2,300 feet. As previously calculated, a cycle time of 7.1 minutes is required
for this distance. The 9B8B loader will again be waiting for a short period
of time between loads. With a cycle time of 7.1 minutes, 7 cycles or 14
loads (7 each truck) can be hauled per 50 minute work hour. Therefare, 560
LCY can be moved each hour. A total of 952 hours would be required to move
533,334 cubic yards. The cost breakdown for this portion of the reclamation
operation would be as follows:
2 - 7738 Caterpillar trucks: 1,904 hours @ 5230.29/hr. = 5248,072
1 - 988B Caterpillar Soader: 952 hours @ 5134.14/hr. = 127,701
3 - Operators: 2,856 hours @ S 15,00/hr. = 42,840
TOTAL COST 5418,613
SMOOTN GRADING PITS 5 AND 6
A Caterpillar 16G grader will be used for smooth grading. Using the fioures
submitted by puinn Coal Company, at one acre smooth graded per 50 minute work
hour, it would take 20 hours to grade the 20 acre area of pits 5 and 6.
The rental cost .for a I6C grader is 520,065 per month (pq. 9-6 BB) with an hourly
operating cost of 525.50. The location adjustment factor (pg. 9-3 BB) is 103.
Therefore, the monthly rental rate would be 511,071.50. The hourlu rate, as-
suming a 21 working day month and 8 hour day would be 565.90. Nourly opera-
ting cost would be 591.40.
The cost breakdown for smooth Grading pits 5 and 6 is as follows:
1 - 16G Caterpillar grader: 20 hours @ 591.40/hr. = 51,828
1 - Operator: 20 hours @ SI5.00/hr. = 300
TOTAL COST 52,128
REPLACEMENT OF TOPSOIL ON PITS 5 AND 6
From Map V-1 a haul distance of 2,700 feet from the center of topsoil stockpile 2
to the central part of pits 5 and 6 was measured. Twenty acres have to be top-
soiled to a depth of 2.4 feet. This results in 45,180 yd3 of topsoil that has
to be moved. The average capacity for a 6310 scraper (pg. 158 CN) is 26 yd3.
A total of 1,738 loads would have to be hauled to move the 45,280 yd3.
The overall grade between the topsoil stockpile and pits 5 and 6 would be 4.63
(125 feet in 2,700 ft.). Effective grade would be 23 rolling resistance plus
4.63 grade resistance or 6.63 (see pg. 442 CN). This would apply to the Loaded
situation since it is uphill to pits 5 and 6 from the topsoil stockpile and
downhill on the return trip. This results in the following cycle time:
haul time - loaded (po.
return time - empty (pg
load time (pg. 166 CN)
maneuver and dump time
TOTAL CNCLE TIME
184 CN)
1B5 CN)
(pg. 266 CN)
= 2.6 minutes
= I.I minutes
= 0.7 minutes
= 0.7 minutes
5.1 minutes
