TABLE TWO -- FREMONT COUNTY <br />MINE NAME COMMENTS ON FEATURES <br />Canon Imperial *: One vertical opening and one inclined opening. Air shaft is 20' square at surface, 15' to <br />No. 3 20' deep; partially collapsed and bridged. Incline is 13' square at surface and forms pit <br />(Imperial) 15' to 20' deep; partially collapsed. Mayor of Williamsburg has thrown 55 gallon drums in <br />pits to prevent access to underground workings. Access deterrence good. <br />S: Five subsidence pits, two troughs. Three pits are 15' to 25' long, 10' to 20' wide, 2' to <br />4' deep; due to subsidence over rooms. Two pits are 15' to 20' in diameter, 13' to 20' <br />deep; due to subsidence around shaft and incline. Both troughs are 45' long, 15' to 20' <br />wide, 3' deep; one due to collapse over room, other due to collapse over incline. <br />Reclamation awaiting landowner consent; controlled blasting will be used to completely <br />collapse the inclines. Any resulting depressions will be completely backfilled with on- <br />site coal waste. Backfilled areas and coal removal areas will be topsoiled and revegetatec <br />Canon Monarch Z: Mine map at Colo D. Mines indicates 4A may have been a lower level working of Monarch No. ~ <br />Nos. 4 & 4A <br />Canon National *: Two horizontal openings. Openings originally 8' high, 12' wide; south opening partially <br />(Canon National obstructed by strip mine spoil; goes into hillside an undetermined distance; openings are <br />No. 1) rooms exposed by strip mining; rooms intact; no access deterrent. <br />D: Operators of G.E.C. strip mine have diverted Newlin Creek northward around mine area. In <br />spring of 1980 stream broke through diversion channel and flowed into open pit. From therf <br />it flowed into rooms of Canon National mine which had been exposed by strip mining. After <br />filling mine, water flowed out mouth of Corley No. 6 mine which is 0.6 miles north of <br />Newlin Creek. Water then flowed down Second Alkalai Creek.
