TABLE TWO -- FREMONT COUNTY <br />MINE NAME COMMENTS ON FEATURES <br />Caldriola No. 2 Reclamation Fall 1983 -- Backfill the ad it with riprap riprap and on-site waste material. <br /> Disturbed areas will be topsoiled, revegetated, and fenced. <br />Caldwell S: Subsidence trough and subsidence pits. Subsidence pits range in size from 5' to 30' in diameter, 2' to <br /> 4' deep; due to collapse over rooms. <br /> Gas explosions in 1885, 1886, 1888 (reference 2) <br /> Reclamation Spring 1983 of subsidence involved conventional excavation and backfilling <br /> techniques. The incline was filled using riprap, fill material from nearby waste banks <br /> and topsoil. Mine site will be revegetated and fenced during the fall of 1983. <br />Canon Black S: NW of Canon Black Diamond entrance. Subsidence pits ranging from 12' to 30' in length, <br />Diamond 8' to 15' in width, 5' to 12' in depth; pits due to collapse over rooms. <br />Canon City *: (Across arroyo from Canon City) <br />(Spring Canon) Horizontal opening. Opening of ad it is 4' high by 4' wide; adit goes into hillside an <br />(Brook Canon unknown distance; bedrock roof inside mine is only partially collapsed; entry in good <br />(Grand Prize; condition, barbed wire across entry in poor condition. Access deterrence poor. <br />(Canon Red star) <br /> Reclamation awaiting landowner consent; backfill the main incline, seal the ventilation <br /> ad it with either concrete blocks or a concrete slab, and use controlled blasting to close <br /> the third ad it. Any depressions requiring backfilling will use on-site material except <br /> perhaps for some imported riprap.
