Roads: All roads on the mine were certified on 10-08-
84.
SUBSIDENCE MONITORING: The initial predictions of 5 to 6 feet
of subsidence were found to be accurate during the monitoring
that was conducted after subsidence had occurred. Based on
the accuracy of the predictions monitoring is not being
conducted at the present time. Monitoring will be required
for planned mining in future areas.
There is no private surface ownership above the mining area.
There is a county road which runs across the mine. The
remainder of the land is owned by the Bureau of Land
Management (BLM). Both the county and BLM have been provided
with a copy of the mine plan and are aware where subsidence is
planned to occur.
FIELD REVIEW
SIGNS AND MARKERS
Mine Identification--Signs were not posted at all
public access points into the mine, however this was
done prior to the end of the inspection.
Perimeter Markers--These markers consist of steel
fence post. The color of the post make them difficult
to see. They are also spaced too far apart to easily
identify the disturbed area boundary. The company is
in the process of painting the post red and will add
additional post were needed to clearly identify the
boundary.
Topsoil Markers--Posted on all topsoil piles observed.
Stream Buffer Markers--None of these signs were
observed nor was a check made to see if they are
required. There is disturbance along side the White
River which was done when the fresh water lagoon was
constructed. If DMG has not already done so they
should insure that all required measures have been
taken for the disturbance which has occurred along the
river.
HYDROLOGIC SYSTEM
Drainage Control--All ditches and diversions observed
7
