III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during <br />the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Upper bench <br />The SAE for the substation (SAE#3) was graveled and functioning properly. The <br />unused air intake ventilation fan and shaft had no concerns. No conce:ms were <br />noted with the old rock dust drop shaft. SAE #11 #11 a and #12 for thE: topsoil <br />piles TS-1 and TS-2 were well vegetated and controlled. The berm ditches D9A <br />and D9B around the topsoil piles were well vegetated. The SAE #16 for the mine <br />water pumpage borehole pad was in good condition. Ditch D-18 into D-1 was in <br />stable non-eroded condition. Culvert C-19 was clear and functioning. <br />Pond #002 Mine water treatment area. <br />A new floculent system is being installed. This system will be automated and the <br />amount of floculent will be added as controlled by the turbidity of the mine <br />pumpage. Eventually this system will be connected to a computer system and <br />turbidity can be monitored in the mine office. The primary mine water treatment <br />pond #002 seemed to be working fine. Pond #002b was discharging. Ditch D-2 <br />located northeast of the ponds was functioning and clear. <br />Water Tanks and Access <br />The road and ditches (D-21A) along the access to the road to the water tanks <br />were in good operating condition. Culverts C-11, C-27 and C-28 were clear. The <br />ditch D-21 C was clear and the kickouts to the culverts were working. The SAE #7 <br />at the water tanks was in good condition. <br />Ponds #005, #003 and #004 <br />Pond #005 in good condition. This pond was lined with black plastic. It is not <br />used much and is used as an alternate storage pond for mine water discharge. <br />3 <br />
