The pond embankment was well
vegetated and appeared to be stable. There were no erosional problems noted on
the pond embankment.
- Pond RP-5a was dry at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well
vegetated and appeared to be stable. There were no erosional problems noted on
the pond embankment.
- Pond DP-1 contained water approximately one foot below the discharge pipe and
was not discharging. The overall amount of water in the pond was very low as the
operator has been pumping water from the pond to the processing plant. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable. There were no
erosional problems on the pond embankment. The emergency spillway is a
riprapped open channel and was well maintained and stable.
- Ponds RR-1 and RR-2 were both dry at the time of the inspection. Both pond
embankments were stable and well vegetated. No erosional problems were noted
on either pond embankment.
Pond SS-1 contained a small amount of water but was not discharging at the time of
the inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be
stable. No erosional problems were noted on the pond embankment at the time of
the inspection.
- Pond SS-2 was dry at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well
vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on the
pond embankment at the time of the inspection.
- Pond PP-1 is a concrete pond that contains recycled water from the process plant.
The pond was full at the time of the inspection but not discharging. Water from the
processing plant is ultimately lumped in the old workings of the Deserado Mine. The
concrete pond was stable at the time of the inspection.
- Pond PP-2 was full at the time of the inspection but was not discharging. Pond PP-2
contains water used in the processing plant. The pond embankment was well
vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. There were no
erosional problems noted on the pond embankment.
The fresh-water intake reservoir was full at the time of the inspection. This reservoir sits
along the White River and draws water from the river. The water is used throughout
the mine, including in the processing plant, in the mine and treated for potable water
for domestic use. The reservoir was stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional
or other problems were noted.
- The roadside ditches along the mine access road and the haul road to the refuse
piles appeared to be stable and well maintained.
- The ditch from the prep plant bench to Pond DP-1 remained stable at the time of
the inspection. No erosional problems were noted in the ditch.
Processing Waste: -Refuse Pile RP-2/3/4 was well compacted and stable at the time
of the inspection. There were no piles of refuse that have not been spread and
compacted at the time of the inspection. No water was pooling on the surface of
the pile and it appeared to be properly graded to allow water to flow to the ponds.
No problems were noted with respect to the pile.
