The sediment and flood debris needs to be cleaned out, <br />and riprap replaced. to reslore the culvert and inlet in accordance with approved design, by the <br />end uf.lanuan~. <br />Sediment had been excavated tiom above the upper Coal Canyon Dip Section culverts, and <br />sediment which had accumulated below the culverts had washed out, since the previous <br />inspection. Suave bales need to he replaced at this location. <br />Lower Coal Canyon dip sections wct'e properly maintained. <br />2-West Portal access road ditch outlets installed prior to the August and September rains <br />appeared to tiuutioit well. with minimal rilling observed on the road surface. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Ponds <br />Pond I/2-- Shallow water level, iced over. <br />Pond ~4--Small pool in pond low spot--iced over. <br />Pond ~-- Sntall pool in prntd low spot--iced over. New embankment to create a <br />minewater ueatmcnt pond from western portion of the former Pond 5 had recently been <br />completed in accordance ~~-ith Technical Revision No. 22. Spillway and ditch modifications <br />pursuant to 1R-23 had recently been completed; grading ro establish Swale drainage from the <br />shop and storage area into the cast end of Pond 5 was scheduled to be completed shortly. <br />Pond 6-- Small frozen puddle. <br />Pond 7-- Drv <br />Pond K-- Pnnd chv. Substantial amount of sediment remains, although sediment had been <br />excavated From the sinnheast comer of the pond since the previous complete inspection. <br />Remaining scdinunt cle;utou[ is [o be completed during January. <br />Pond 9-- Drv <br />Pond 10-- Drv <br />Pond 1 I -- Pond iced over, approximately 4' below level of open channel spillway. <br />Pond 12 -- Pond 12 had recently been completed and certified. On the afternoon of <br />December 18. minewater pumped into the pond was discharging through the primazy spillway, <br />with water level approxinuuely 13" below the top of the emergency spillway riser. Discharge <br />water was clear. Embankment and spillway construction appears to have been completed in <br />accordance with approved designs. and no problems were evident. It was noted that the mine <br />discharge line enters Pond 12 at the southeast corner, rather than at the northeast corner as <br />depicted on fZSN-=i7 plan view drawing in permit Appendix 13-2.
