Slides and Damage
On the 15'", the lower portion of a large slide
complex was visited south of the proposed
disturbed area rn South Taylor The head
scarp of this slide body is located on the SW
'/. SE '/a of Sec 20, T3N R93W in Rio
Blanco County, Thrs slide will not be
impacted by the proposed South Taylor pit
but may be included rn the disturbed buffer
zone It may be appropriate to reconsider
disturbing any portion of this slide to avoid
future problems to reclaimed areas. (Note
scarp and hummocky terrain in photo at
right)
design plans for South Taylor ponds use a curve number of 58-61 that results in almost no
storm runoff from a 10-year 24-hour storm event. At this time. the Division believes using
these low curve numbers for one and two year-otd reclaimed areas in any pond designs for
South Taylor is not supported by actual experience at Colowyo
