STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
November 16, 1987
Mr. David L. Yoder
Yoder Engineering Consultants, Inc,
P.O. Box 5740
Avon, Colorado 81620
Re: Water Pollution in East Mancos River
Dear Mr. Yoder:
Thank you for your letter dated November 5, 1987, regarding the water
pollution in the East Mancos River in the Red Arrow Sasin.
I have reviewed our list of active permits in that area and found two:
1) Mancos PAining Company
556 Main Avenue
Durango, Colorado 81301
File No. M-81-184, the Out West Mine and Mill located in NENE
Section 13, T36N, R12W
2) Potco Mining and Milling
Route 2
Mancos, Colorado 81328
File N0. td-83-030, the Twin Canyon Mine located in SESW Section 14,
T36, R12W
It is possible that there are also prospecting activities in that area;
however, that information is confidential.
We will be unable to pursue this as a complaint at this time because it is not
certain that the water pollution problem is being caused by one of the mines.
If you can determine that, in fact, an unpermitted discharge is occurring at
one of these mines, please leL us know and we would pursue it at that time.
Thank you for your interest in finding the source of this problem, and I will
be interested in your results.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
