III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Spillways were functional. <br />DITCHBB AND CIILV8RT8 <br />No problems were observed with any of the culverts and ditches at <br />the mine site. <br />TOPSOIL <br />There were no erosional problems with any of the topsoil <br />stockpiles. Topsoil stockpile marker signs were up. <br />PIT AREAB <br />The-,dragline is near the bottom of.Derringer pit, advancing up <br />the-spoilside in order to remove interburden materia.l:_~I-~blast <br />was: performed on Tuesday in the.pit. There are portions~of one <br />spoil ridge remaining, with a second.,ridge. being made°from the <br />interburden removal operations. _. :.- <br />The dragline in the Hawkins pit is being used to backfill the <br />southern section of the pit, now that-the"coal has been removed. <br />Not^all of the coal has been removed from the northern section of <br />the Hawkins pit. <br />The Ashmore pit is still active. Drilling terraces have been <br />constructed in advance of the pit. Backfilling operations were <br />proceeding behind the pit. <br />The Flintlock pit continues to be developed. The dragline from <br />the Hawkins pit will not be moved to the Flintlock pit until <br />sometime next year. <br />There was no activity in the Enfield pit. <br />Trapper Mine has applied for a Phase 1 bond release on about 2500 <br />2 <br />
