Colowyo C-1981-019 <br />8 January 2007 <br />Pg 4/9 ~y <br />Hydrologic Balance (cont.): -The Streeter Pond (NPDES 001 A) contained water <br />approximately six inches below the discharge pipe and was discharging at the time <br />of the inspection. The discharge appeared to be clear. The pond embankment was <br />well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. No <br />erosional problems noted on the embankment at the time of the inspection. <br />The emergency spillway is an open, trapezoidal riprapped channel. The spillway was <br />stable and well maintained at the time of the inspection. <br />-The Gulch A Pond (NPDES 004A) contained water approximately four feet below <br />the discharge pipe and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the <br />inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at the time of the <br />inspection. The emergency spillway is an open, trapezoidal riprapped channel. The <br />spillway was stable and well maintained at the time of the inspection. <br />-Sump 1 appeared to be dry at the time of the inspection. The sump was stable at <br />the time of the inspection. <br />-Sump 2 contained water approximately four feet below the top and was not <br />discharging at the time of the inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />-Sump 3 contained water approximately four feet below the top and was not <br />discharging at the time of the inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />-Sump 4 contained water approximately three feet below the top and was not <br />discharging at the time of the inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />-Sump 5 contained water approximately two feet below the top and was not <br />discharging at the time of the inspection. The sump was stable at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />- Culverts K and M were both clear at the time of the inspection. The culverts <br />appeared to be functioning as designed. These are the two culverts that routinely fill <br />with sediment during storm or runoff events. <br />Backfilling and Grading: -The operator has completed more work on the East side of <br />the East Pit with the 101 dragline. The dragline was walking back to the north working <br />on the second cut in the wedge it is working on. The dragline is approximately one <br />quarter of the way along on this cut. After this second cut is completed, it appears <br />as though there are two more cuts remaining until the wedge is filled in. <br />-The 102 dragline was working on reclamation at the west edge of the West Pit at the <br />time of the inspection. <br />Support Facilities: -The facilities area was wet and muddy but in good condition at <br />the time of the inspection. No problems were noted with the area. <br />- The Gossard Loadout was wet but appeared to be stable and in good condition at <br />the time of the inspection. The coal stockpile appeared to be lower than normal at <br />the time of the inspection. <br />
