III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The treatment system seemed to be working fine. Pond #002b was <br />discharging. The discharge was slightly turbid but appeared to be pa;>sable. <br />This pond had an algae bloom earlier this year and had caused a non passable <br />wet test. The operator attributed this to increased HZS. The algae bloom had <br />decreased an the extended monitoring performed by the mine was back into <br />compliance. Ditch D-2 located northeast of the ponds was functioning and Gear. <br />SAE #1 was mulched but the turkeys have been digging in this area. <br />Water Tanks and Access <br />The road and ditches (D-21 A) along the access to the road to the water tanks <br />were in good operating condition. Culverts C-11, C-27 and C-28 were Gear. The <br />ditch D-21 C was Gear and the kickouts to the culverts were working. The SAE <br />#7 at the water tanks was in good condition. This area earlier had a leak in the <br />tank valve but this has been repaired. The area was dressed up and mulched. <br />The berm was replaced. <br />Ponds #005, #003 and #004 <br />Pond #005 in good condition. This pond was lined with black plastic. It is not <br />used much and is used as an alternate storage pond for mine water discharge. <br />This pond contained water but was not discharging. The topsoil pile 1'S-4 a SAE <br />area was signed and well vegetated. SAE #21 for the pump house for the Gean <br />3 <br />
