rte. All appropriate information was displayed. Topsoil markers were in place
and easily identified.
4.03 Roads
Roads were well maintained. There has been a recent block fall (or slide) along
the haul road between the L•'ruita N1 bench and Fruita N2. A block of sandstone approxi-
mately I2 feet (FI) x 6 feet (w) x 2 feet slid about one foot into the road and separated
into several fragments. Apparently the rock had dislodged due to freeze and thaw
action. A11 litter has been cleared from the roarl af~d no damage was done to any
portion of the drainage'system.
Culverts were all in good shape. Discharge structures at the ends of culverts are
effective in dissipating energy. There was very little evidence of scour at discharge
points.
Ditches were fairly clean. Some vegetation is growing in drainage ditches but
it doesn't appear to be creating much of an obstruction.
9.04 Support Facilities
The only facilities at the site are office trailers, shop, conveyors and a wash
plant. R11 aspects of these facilities are in compliance on the ground.
The Ioadout is located several miles from the mine. Coal is not being loaded
out from this facility. Sedimentation control at the Zoadout is pending approval
through the application review and permitting process.
4.05 Hydrologic Balance
The precipitation recently received produced Little obvious effects
at the mine. Very little water accumulated in the ponrls and there were no indications
of recent Flow in diversion or collection ditches.
Recent groundwater monitoring records indicate an anomalous increase in iron
concentratuib at CM-I compared to past conditions. This .increase was accompanied
by slight increase in pH, EC, ds and ss. DerreZ intends to resample this well in
the near future for verification of these conritions.
